Brown Act and Open Meetings Compliance

As part of our comprehensive general municipal law practice, Kronick attorneys have developed specializations across multiple areas of public agency law, including compliance with laws governing public access to ongoing government functions. We advise our public agency clients on satisfying open meeting regulations, including California’s Brown Act, which protects the public’s right to attend and participate in legislative body meetings.

Maintaining transparency and integrity and ensuring regulatory compliance across all functions of government is both essential and expected. Public trust in agencies of all sizes is built by ensuring open access, ethical decision-making, and fair and open participation are adhered to during all phases of government’s exploration, discussion, and adoption processes. As one of California’s more respected public agency practices, we work closely with cities, counties, special districts, joint powers authorities (JPAs), and local and state government agencies to ensure they understand and comply with these regulations and responsibilities. In fact, several Kronick attorneys currently serve as general or special counsel to public agencies across the state.
