Kronick Welcomes 2023 Summer Law Clerks

Kronick is pleased to welcome our 2023 Summer Law Clerks to the firm. With our program, we aim to provide a rich summer experience while providing challenging legal work, ensuring broad exposure to the firm’s practice areas, and providing a realistic work experience that enables the firm and each law clerk to undertake an honest assessment of whether our firm is the right fit.

Navkaran Gurm, a rising 2L at UC Davis Law, brings a unique perspective and a strong background in public affairs. He is a native of Fresno and a UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs graduate. During his undergraduate years, he actively engaged with the North Westwood Neighborhood Council, igniting his interest in local government, and later worked as a Legislative Assistant for then Fresno City Council President Nelson Esparza, contributing his expertise to various local Central San Joaquin Valley campaigns. At Davis, Navkaran has been actively involved in the Worker’s Rights Clinic, the South Asian Law Student Association, and is the incoming External Vice President of the Law Student Association. When he’s not immersed in his legal pursuits, Navkaran finds solace in reading, enjoying the outdoors, and cherishing moments with his friends and family.

Alek Kocher, a rising 3L at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to our team. Originally from Iowa, Alek ventured to Sacramento to pursue a JD at McGeorge and start his legal career in California. Last summer, he served as a Law Clerk at the California Department of Water Resources, gaining valuable insights into the field. Alek’s involvement with student organizations during his 2L year is commendable—he served as the President of Lambda Law Students Association, Co-Chair of Unity Caucus, and Vice-President of Public Legal Services Society. Additionally, he contributed to the Law Review. Next spring, Alek will be externing for the Honorable Judge Callahan of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Jonathan Weldon, also a rising 3L at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, brings a diverse set of skills to the table. During his 2L year, he served as a law clerk at the Sacramento City Attorney’s Office, where he worked on fascinating cases involving water rights, government premises liability, and municipal transactional matters. Jonathan’s passion for legal research and writing shines through his involvement as a staff writer for the Law Review, where he explored employment law issues. He also contributed as a research assistant, delving into the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs and its impact on reproductive rights.
