29th Annual 2020 Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite

Kronick is pleased to again sponsor the California Lawyer Association’s Environmental Law Conference at Yosemite on October 15-18, 2020. We are especially proud to sponsor “National Parks and Indigenous Land Dispossession: Confronting the Environmental Movement’s History of Settler Privilege and Moving Toward a Transformational Land Ethic,” where Dina Gilio-Whitaker (Colville Confederated Tribes) will discuss settler colonialism and white/cultural supremacism in the early “conservation movement,” and how this mentality factored into the expulsion of indigenous people from national parks, including Yosemite. Ms. Gilio-Whitaker will also discuss indigenous land management practices, including practices on national parks, and the need to separate racialization from colonialism when talking about American Indians.

Shareholder Holly Roberson is a member of the executive committee of the Environmental Law Section of the California Lawyers Association. She has served as a member of the Environmental Law Section’s legislative committee since 2012 and has also spoken at a number of the Section’s conferences and webinars on topics including environmental justice, and community engagement. Ms. Roberson also serves as a mentor for the Section’s Environmental Law Diversity Inclusion fellowship program.

The Environmental Law Section furthers the knowledge of members in the fields of law affecting the environment and environmental regulatory law. Substantive areas and topics include Air, litigation, energy, waste management, natural resources, water, land use, toxics, and CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act). The Section provides educational opportunities throughout the year, such as the Conference at Yosemite.

We look forward to “seeing” you at the conference, please virtually say “Hi!”
