About

Effective January 1, 2006, AB 1234 has two basic components. The first component requires public agencies that provide reimbursements or compensation to officials to develop and adopt written policies to govern how and when reimbursements and compensation can occur. These policies must be adopted at a public meeting. The second component of AB1234 requires certain officials to receive a minimum of two hours of ethics training every two, even-numbered, years. Local public agencies whose officials are required to receive the training must keep records of the dates of training and who provided it.
