Real Estate and Land Use

Kronick’s integrated real estate and land use practice offers both our private and public agency clients highly experienced, cost-effective counsel through all steps of real estate, land use, and related development projects. Our real estate attorney team supports clients in analyzing and negotiating real estate transactions, including property acquisitions, sales, leases, DDAs, OPAs, affordable housing agreements, and property development. This practice also includes expertise in economic development and housing as well as eminent domain negotiations and litigation, including condemnation proceedings when necessary.

Our experienced attorneys regularly represent public agencies working towards compliance with complex land use planning laws, from plan adoption and implementation to ongoing development with adherence to state and local zoning, subdivision, and other land use development laws, including all aspects of CEQA, NEPA and the Clean Water Act, and climate-change related regulations, permitting and the full environmental review process. We also directly advise city planning staff on entitlements, permits, variances, and subdivision maps, and help ensure legal review of related environmental documentation.

Kronick’s real estate and land use practice is complemented by our attorneys’ broad expertise in both environmental, energy, and water law and the balancing and accommodation of mineral and surface rights, as well as offering counsel on hazardous materials cleanup and compliance and due diligence, advice, and counsel for the acquisition or sale of potentially contaminated or contaminated property. During real estate development proceedings and entitlement processing, our skilled attorneys provide specialized counsel on these matters, as needed.
