Kronick Mourns the Death of Edward Tiedemann

It is with profound sadness that Kronick mourns the passing of retired shareholder Edward Tiedemann, who passed peacefully at his Roseville home on August 26, 2017. He was 88.

“He was a kind gentleman who treated everyone with respect, and yet he was a fierce advocate for his clients. He was a role model for all who worked with him.” Bruce Scheidt, Managing Shareholder recalls.

For 51 years, Mr. Tiedemann was essential in building Kronick’s water law practice. He was counsel for several California water districts for many years, including the Placer County Water Agency where he served as general counsel for 50 years. He was the recipient of many honors for his work as a water lawyer, including designation by the Water Education Foundation as an outstanding California water attorney.

Mr. Tiedemann was a significant contributor to PCWA’s successes through the years. He provided a guiding hand in the successful countywide bond election that led to construction of the Middle Fork American River Project. He was instrumental in securing the federal licenses and permits for power generation and “area of origin” water rights. Other important water supply contracts including those for Central Valley Project (CVP), Yuba-Bear and PG&E water also carry Mr. Tiedemann’s imprint.

Edward James Tiedemann was born on February 1, 1929 in Franklin Park, Illinois. After serving in the United States Army in Tokyo as part of the Occupation Forces at the end of World War II, Ed attended Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Illinois. He received a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University Of Denver and J.D. from McGeorge School of Law.

Mr. Tiedemann is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian, and their four children, Lou Ann Tiedemann, of Portland Oregon, Peter Tiedemann (Toni Tiedemann) of Sacramento, California, Christiana  Tiedemann of Berkeley, California and Karen Tiedemann (Geoff Piller) of Albany California.
